The Martinelli 2020 scam is a hot topic currently, as users reported that the scam message is being distributed again. However, the recent shocking discovery made by security experts reports about a severe virus 2019 vulnerability which helps hackers to install the Pegasus spyware and access users' camera, microphone, emails, messages, and other private data. The most prevalent threats have been including “Martinelli” and “Olivia hoax” scams. Unfortunately, bad actors are quick to abuse it. The software is one of the most used communication apps in the world which provides end-to-end encryption for private messaging. Also, there are numerous scams relying on misleading messages and warnings that try to make users click on unsafe links, register on suspicious websites, enter private information, or inject malware directly into their device. WhatsApp virus is an umbrella term describing a wide range of computer threats and scams related to this app. It is a scam that targets their personal details or aims to infect victim devices with malware. This cyber infection affects the program users. The personnel have also been asked to report these incidents to their Information technology cells, they said.What is WhatsApp virus? WhatsApp virus is a term used for a variety of malware and scams directed towards this popular communications app Officials said the advisory has now been shared with the field formations of these security forces so that the troops and officers on the ground are made aware and alerted against this virus which has been seen prowling in the instant messaging cyber space recently. However, it has been analysed that the men and women in defence, paramilitary and police forces could be the target groups," they said. "As these two organisations are very popular and known within the country and abroad and there is a curiosity to know more about them, it is possible that it may affect the mobile phones of people interested in these subjects. The advisory added that the corrupt virus files are "programmed" to illegally extract personal information of the user, their login credentials and banking details like passwords and PIN numbers. It is understood that the malicious virus-laden file is formatted in the form of 'MS Excel' file majorly, but officials did not rule out it's aliases in the 'MS Word' or '.PDF' formats to attack a user's phone and data. Officials privy to the contents of the advisory said the NDA here is understood to be indicating to army's National Defence Academy in Khadakwasla in Pune while NIA to the premier terrorist incidents' probe organisation- the National Investigation Agency.
